DescriptionThe PTGFRN, ID (PTGFRN, CD9P1, EWIF, FPRP, KIAA1436, Prostaglandin F2 receptor negative regulator, CD9 partner 1, Glu-Trp-Ile EWI motif- protein F, Prostaglandin F2-alpha receptor regulatory protein, Prostaglandin F2-alpha receptor-associated protei is a α- or alpha protein sometimes glycoprotein present in blood. Negative control peptides or isotypes available of the different species. The receptors are ligand binding factors of type 1, 2 or 3 and protein-molecules that receive chemical-signals from outside a cell. When such chemical-signals couple or bind to a receptor, they cause some form of cellular/tissue-response, e.g. a change in the electrical-activity of a cell. In this sense, am olfactory receptor is a protein-molecule that recognizes and responds to endogenous-chemical signals, chemokinesor cytokines e.g. an acetylcholine-receptor recognizes and responds to its endogenous-ligand, acetylcholine. However, sometimes in pharmacology, the term is also used to include other proteins that are drug-targets, such as enzymes, transporters and ion-channels.

ConceptScope note: The technique of washing tissue specimens with a concentrated solution of a heavy metal salt and letting it dry. The specimen will be covered with a very thin layer of the metal salt, being excluded in areas where an adsorbed macromolecule is present. The macromolecules allow electrons from the beam of an electron microscope to pass much more readily than the heavy metal; thus, a reversed or negative image of the molecule is created.
