  • Purity
The purity of pegylated recombinant rat leptin is greater than 99.0% as determined by:(a) Gel filtration analysis.(b) Analysis by reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE gel.
  • Form
    White lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.
  • Storage_stability
Lyophilized pegylated recombinant rat leptin although stable at room temperature for several weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18 degree C. Upon reconstitution of pegylated recombinant rat leptin at > 0.1 mg/ml and up to 2 mg/ml and filter sterilization pegylated recombinant rat leptin can be stored at 4 degree C or even room temperature for several weeks making it suitable for long term infusion studies using osmotic pumps. At lower concentration of pegylated recombinant rat leptin addition of a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) is suggested. Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
  • Gene
Human or mouse Leptin (from Greek λεπτός leptos, "thin") the "satiety hormone", is a hormone made by adipose cells that helps to regulate energy balance by inhibiting hunger. Leptin is opposed by the actions of the hormone ghrelin, the "hunger hormone". Both hormones act on receptors in the arcuate nucleus of the hypothalamus to regulate appetite to achieve energy homeostasis. ELISA kits and peptides and antibodies are available.
  • About
Rats are used to make rat monoclonal anti mouse antibodies. There are less rat- than mouse clones however. Rats genes from rodents of the genus Rattus norvegicus are often studied in vivo as a model of human genes in Sprague-Dawley or Wistar rats.
