  C5 component of human complement is a plasma protein consisting of two polypeptide chains, alpha, beta, bound by disulphide bonds. It has a molecular weight of 190,000. The activated protein forms with the complement factors C6-C9 the membrane attack complex. The average concentration in plasma is about 70 _g/ml._x000B__x000B_The C5 is isolated as a homogenous protein for use in antiserum production. FreundÍs complete adjuvant is used in the first step of the immunization procedure.

  Goat anti Human C5, Primary Antibodies philized antiserum is shipped at ambient temperature and may be stored at +4ÁC; prolonged storage at or below -20ÁC. Reconstitute the lyophilized antiserum by adding 1 ml sterile distilled water. Dilutions may be prepared by adding phosphate buffered saline (PBS, pH 7.2). Repeated thawing and freezing should be avoided. If a slight precipitation occurs upon storage, this should be removed by centrifugation. It will not affect the performance of the antiserum. Diluted antiserum should be stored at +4ÁC, not refrozen, and preferably used the same day. Lyophilized at +4Á C--at least 10 years. Reconstituted at or below -20Á C--3-5 years. Reconstituted at +4Á C--7 days
