Storage condtionsKeep the Cystatin A Antibodyat minus twenty degrees Celsius for 1 year. The ready-to-use solutions can be stored at four degrees Celsius for a month. Our specialsits recommend to freeze the aliquotes at minus twenty degrees Celsius for long-term application. Multiple procedures of freezing and thawing influence the specifity and reactivity of the antibody in a negative way.

BackgroundCystatin A also called Stefin A is a protein that in humans is encoded by the CSTA gene. Cystatin A is a cysteine proteinase inhibitor that belongs to family 1 of the cystatin superpamily. This gene was assigned to human chromosome 3q21.1. This is an intracellular thiol proteinase inhibitor. Cystatin A plays an important role in desmosome-mediated cell-cell adhesion in the lower levels of the epidermis. Stefins have been proposed as prognostic and diagnostic tools for cancer.
