DescriptionThiostrepton is a large cyclic antibiotic commonly used in topical antibiotic ointments. It inhibits bacterial protein synthesis. It blocks translation by interfering with elongation factors (EF) involved in ribosomal GTPase activity. Antitumor agent; induces cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in breast cancer cells via downregulation of FOXM1 expression.
