  • Background
The PCR-Salmonella-Listeria Detection kit is an ideal tool for a fast and reliable Amplification and Detection of specific DNA fragments from Salmonella spp and/or Listeria monocytogenes by the real-time PCR method (multiplex PCR). The Kit includes all reagents required in a comfortable ready-to-use Multiplex PCR MasterMix. The optimized MasterMix contains a Buffer, dNTPs, Hot-start DNA Polymerase, DNA-free water, mgCl2 and an Internal Amplification Control (IAC) whose detection indicates the absence of PCR inhibitors. Primers and Probes for the amplification of IAC as well as for the amplification of the target gene are included in the MasterMix. The Probe for the detection of target gene is labelled with the FAM (Listeria) and HEX fluorochrome (Salmonella), whereas the probe for the detection of IAC is labelled with the CY5 fluorochrome. In addition, the kit includes both Positive Control and Negative Control. The Positive control is supplied to demonstrate that the PCR amplification is working efficiently with the supplied components. To confirm absence of contamination, a Negative control reaction should be included every time the kit is used. Include DNAready Lysis Buffer to extract the DNA from the sample prior to PCR Detection.
  • Additional description
The detections of the targets with this kit is a type of test that can be performed on any target containing biological samples after clean up of interfering agents. The assay must be performed following the protocol.
  • Group
    PCR, polymerase chain reaction
  • About
TAQ or Pfu or Pfx or other enzymes are used for polycmerase chain reaction and have different specificity. The mores specific the lower the yield.
  • Properties
Thermocyclers can be callibrated for identical ramping curves to obtain a more accurate PCR.
  • Gene target
  • Short name
    PCR-Salmonella-Listeria Kit
  • Technique
detection, PCR, The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplifies the DNA in your sample. For real time PCR the cycle threshold Ct values willneed to be set before the experiment. Than the RT-PCR starts from RNA and real time PCR quantitates the cDNA so the RNA in the sample on given time of the experiment.

  • Disease
Listeria monocytogenes and Listeria species are gram-positive, rod-shaped, facultatively anaerobic, and non spore-forming. The major human pathogen in the Listeria genus is L. monocytogenes. It is usually the causative agent of the relatively rare bacterial disease listeriotic, listeriosis a serious infection caused by eating food contaminated with the bacteria. The disease affects pregnant women, newborns, adults with weakened immune systems, and the elderly. Antibodies and ELISA test kits for detection of listeria antigens. Salmonella typhimurium, enteriditis and Salmonella paratyphi antibodies or media detect this rod-shaped (bacillus) gram-negative bacteria of the Enterobacteriaceae family. The two species of Salmonella are Salmonella enterica and Salmonella bongori. Salmonella enterica is the type species and is further divided into six subspecies that include over 2500 serovars. S. enterica subspecies are found worldwide in all warm-blooded animals, and in the environment. S. bongori is restricted to cold-blooded animals particularly reptiles. Strains of Salmonella cause illnesses such as typhoid fever, paratyphoid fever, and food poisoning (salmonellosis).
MeSH Data
  • Name
  • Concept
Scope note: In vitro method for producing large amounts of specific DNA or RNA fragments of defined length and sequence from small amounts of short oligonucleotide flanking sequences (primers). The essential steps include thermal denaturation of the double-stranded target molecules, annealing of the primers to their complementary sequences, and extension of the annealed primers by enzymatic synthesis with DNA polymerase. The reaction is efficient, specific, and extremely sensitive. Uses for the reaction include disease diagnosis, detection of difficult-to-isolate pathogens, mutation analysis, genetic testing, DNA sequencing, and analyzing evolutionary relationships.
