BackgroundCytomegalovirus (CMV) is a member of the herpes group of viruses. Most adults and children who catch CMV have no symptoms and are not harmed by the virus. CMV infection is of clinical significance primarily in pregnant women, newborn infants with possible congenital infection, immunosuppressed transplant patients and individuals with AIDS. CMV is so prevalent as over 60% of people catch the infection at some time in their lives. Significant increases in CMV IgG antibody by ELISA suggest recent infection or reactivation of a latent CMV infection. ELISA can detect CMV IgM antibody in both primary CMV infections (93-100%) and in reactivated infection (40%). An IgM response may be reduced or absent in immunocompromised patients with active infection. In transplant patients the CMV infection can be associated with higher morbidity and mortality.

PropertiesE05 478 566 350 170 or Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assays, E05 478 566 350 170 or Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assays, Immunoglobulin M, or IgM for short, is a basic antibody that is produced by B cells. IgM is by far the physically largest antibody in the human circulatory system. It is the first antibody to appear in response to initial exposure to an antigen

TechniqueELISA kit, ELISA, IgM, ELISAs Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay 90320007 SNOMED code are used by the medical researcher for detection of human, mouse, … proteins are supplied in coated 96 well plates to be stored at +4°C. ELISA test kits can be sandwich ELISA. In sandwich ELISAS Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay 9we use captor and detector antibodies. In single antibody ELISAs the antigen is coated and only a detector antibody is used. Traditional competition antigen ELISAs are coated with a captor antibody and a competitive antigen is labelled with the chromogen. In this case the ratio on your graph will be inverse proportional with the antigen present in your sample. A sign detected by the Colorimetric detection OD optical density absorbance at 450 nm between 0 and 4 with an ELISA reader for 450 nm absortion. ConceptScope note: An immunoassay utilizing an antibody labeled with an enzyme marker such as horseradish peroxidase. While either the enzyme or the antibody is bound to an immunosorbent substrate, they both retain their biologic activity; the change in enzyme activity as a result of the enzyme-antibody-antigen reaction is proportional to the concentration of the antigen and can be measured spectrophotometrically or with the naked eye. Many variations of the method have been developed.
