DescriptionThe research-grade biosimilar is a fully-humanized IgG2 monoclonal antibody that binds to human cytotoxic T lymphocyte-associated antigen 4 (CTLA-4) expressed on the activated T cells. Binding to CTLA-4 results in inhibition of its association with the ligands B7-1 (CD80) and B7-2 (CD86), thereby preventing the downregulation of T-cell activation and inhibition of tumor growth. The original drug is currently undergoing clinical trials for the treatment of several cancers such as melanoma, mesothelioma and non-small cell lung cancer
