Background InformationGalectin-1 belongs to growing family of evolutionary conserved animal lectins. Galectins consists of β-galactoside binding lectins that contain homologous carbohydrate recognition domains (CRDs). Galectin-1 has the ability to induce apoptosis of activated T-cells and T-leukaemia cell lines. Other activities include cell differentiation and inhibition activity of CD45 protein phosphatase activity. Galectin also binds β-galactoside as well as CD45, CD3 and CD4. Recombinant Human Galectin is a 14.5 kDa protein consisting of 134 amino acid residues.

-
PropertiesHuman proteins, cDNA and human recombinants are used in human reactive ELISA kits and to produce anti-human mono and polyclonal antibodies. Modern humans (Homo sapiens, primarily ssp. Homo sapiens sapiens). Depending on the epitopes used human ELISA kits can be cross reactive to many other species. Mainly analyzed are human serum, plasma, urine, saliva, human cell culture supernatants and biological samples.
