Background Information
CAT is a key antioxidant enzyme in the bodies’ defense against oxidative stress. Also, it is a heme enzyme that is present in the peroxisome of nearly all aerobic cells. CAT converts the reactive oxygen species hydrogen peroxide to water and oxygen and thereby mitigates the toxic effects of hydrogen peroxide. Recombinant human CAT protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.

Properties
Human proteins, cDNA and human recombinants are used in human reactive ELISA kits and to produce anti-human mono and polyclonal antibodies. Modern humans (Homo sapiens, primarily ssp. Homo sapiens sapiens). Depending on the epitopes used human ELISA kits can be cross reactive to many other species. Mainly analyzed are human serum, plasma, urine, saliva, human cell culture supernatants and biological samples.
