DescriptionElesclomol is a novel anticancer agent that displays oxidative stress induction, pro-apoptotic, and potential antineoplastic activities. The mechanism underlying the proapoptotic activity of elesclomol is through the induction of ROS (reactive oxygen species) and oxidative stress. Elesclomol rapidly induces ROS in cancer cells, generating a transcription profile characteristic of an oxidative stress response.
