Antigen backgroundMembers of the EF-CBP (N-terminal EF-hand calcium binding protein)/NECAB (neuronal calcium-binding protein) family participate in neuronal calcium signaling. EF-CBP2, also known as NECAB2 (N-terminal EF-hand calcium binding protein 2), neuronal calcium-binding protein 2 or synaptotagmin-interacting protein 2 (Stip-2), is a 386 amino acid cytoplasmic protein that contains one antibiotic biosynthesis monooxygenase (ABM) domain and two EF-hand domains. Expressed in brain, EF-CBP2 is suggested to bind metabotropic glutamate receptor 5 (mGluR-5) in a calcium-regulated manner. The gene encoding EF-CBP2 maps to human chromosome 16, which encodes over 900 genes and comprises nearly 3% of the human genome. The rare disorder Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome is also associated with chromosome 16, as is Crohn's disease, which is a gastrointestinal inflammatory condition.

PropertiesIf you buy Antibodies supplied by Bioss Primary Conjugated Antibodies they should be stored frozen at - 24°C for long term storage and for short term at + 5°C. Cy3 antibodies are excited by the 488-nanometer wave of an argon laser and the 633-nanometer line of a helium-neon diode laser. 1 of the Anti-EF-CBP2 can be used in flow cytometry but typically shows lower fluorescence intensity comparable to that of PE or APC. This Bioss Primary Conjugated Antibodies antibody is well suited for fluorescent microscopy.
