Activity (Specifications/test method)
The recombinant human IGF-II is biologically active when compared to standard. The ED₅₀ as determined by competitive binding against plasma-derived IGF-II to human placental membranes is 1 x 10⁶ units/mg.
Physical form description
Lyophilized with no additives.
Reconstitute in 10 mM acetic acid to a concentration of 0.1-1 mg/ml. This solution can be diluted into other aqueous buffers and or stored at 4°C for 1 week or –20°C for future use.
Centrifuge the vial prior to opening.
For Research Use Only! Not to be used in humans
Human proteins, cDNA and human recombinants are used in human reactive ELISA kits and to produce anti-human mono and polyclonal antibodies. Modern humans (Homo sapiens, primarily ssp. Homo sapiens sapiens). Depending on the epitopes used human ELISA kits can be cross reactive to many other species. Mainly analyzed are human serum, plasma, urine, saliva, human cell culture supernatants and biological samples.
IGF-I, IGF-II, insulin-like growth factors -1 and -2 are important regulators of signaling that mediates growth and metabolism in cells. Insulin-like growth factor -1 shares structural homology with proinsulin and is mainly produced by liver. IGF-1 acts via specific receptor, IGF-1R, a heterodimeric tyrosine kinase receptor that signals to various second messenger pathways such as MAPK, Raf/Ras and PI3K cascades.
