  • Host organism
    Mouse (Mus musculus)
  • Species reactivity
    This antibody recognizes both the 72 aa and 78 aa forms of Human (Homo sapiens) IL-8; Due to limited knowledge and inability for testing each and every species, the reactivity of the antibody may extend to other species which are not listed hereby.
  • Specificity and cross reactivity
    Human; Since it is not possible to test each and every species our knowledge on the corss reactivity of the antibodies is limited. This particular antibody might cross react with speacies outside of the listed ones.
  • Purification method
    IL8 antibody was purified by Protein A agarose chromatography.
  • Form Appearance
    Ca++ & Mg++ free Dulbecco's PBS, pH 7.2, with 0.05% NaN3.
  • Concentration
    1.0 mg/ml
  • Storage and shipping
    For shorter periods of time keep the antibody at +4 degrees Celsius. Long term storage should be done after aliquoting and at -20°C. Cycles of freezing and defrosting may denaturate the polypeptide chains of the antibodies, thus reducing their activity.
  • Tested applications
    ELISA (EIA), Immunoprecipitation (IP)
  • Properties
    If you buy Antibodies supplied by MBS Monoclonals they should be stored frozen at - 24°C for long term storage and for short term at + 5°C.
  • Gene
    Interleukin 8 (IL8 or chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 8, CXCL8) is a chemokine produced by macrophages and other cell types such as epithelial cells, airway smooth muscle cells and endothelial cells. Endothelial cells store IL-8 in their storage vesicles, the Weibel-Palade bodies. In humans, the interleukin-8 proteins encoded by the IL8 gene. IL-8 is initially produced as a precursor peptide of 99 amino acids long which then undergoes cleavage to create several active IL-8 isoforms. In culture, a 72 amino acid peptide is the major form secreted by macrophages. Recombinant, rec. E. coli interleukin-8 for cell culture or antibody production.
