Alternative names of antibody target:
PRL, luteotropic hormone, LTH, PRLR, PRL-R, PRL R
Background information:
Prolactin (also known as mammotrophin, luterotropic hormone, and lutetropin) is a neuroendocrine hormone secreted by the pituitary gland. Its primary function is to promote and maintain lactation during pregnancy and suckling. In addition, Prolactin plays an immune-regulatory role by stimulating the activities of ornithine decarboxylase and protein kinase C, which are important for the proliferation, differentiation, and function of lymphocytes. Rat Prolactin is a 22.5 kDa globular protein containing 198 amino acid residues.
This antibody reacts with:
Rat
Immunogene sequence:
E. coli expressed recombinant rat Prolactin
Formulation of this antibody:
30 µg (0.5 mg/ml) affinity purified rabbit anti-rat Prolactin polyclonal antibody in phosphate buffered saline (PBS), pH 7.2, containing 30% glycerol and 0.01% thimerosal.

Affinity purified
Recommended usage:
Western blot analysis (0.5-4 µg/ml). Recombinant rat Prolactin (Cat.# 4689-50) can be use as a positive control. However, the optimal conditions should be determined individually. Other applications have not been determined.
