Propidium Iodide

• Description:

  Propidium iodide (PI) is a cell-permeable nucleic acid intercalating dye. Since PI is rejected by alive cells, it is routinely employed to preferentially label dead cells in a population of mixed live and dead cells. PI is commonly used in applications utilizing multicolor fluorescence as a counterstain.
