They are characterized by an N-terminal, extracellular IMMUNOGLOBULIN-LIKE DOMAIN and a membrane-proximal IMMUNOGLOBULIN C2-SET DOMAIN. SLAMF receptors typically signal through homophilic interactions and are important for mediating the immune response and immune cell differentiation.
