SYBR Green I is a fluorescent dye that binds specifically to double-stranded DNA (dsDNA). As the PCR amplification progresses and more dsDNA is synthesized, SYBR Green intercalates into the growing DNA strands, producing a fluorescence signal proportional to the amount of amplified product. This real-time signal allows researchers to quantify target DNA with high sensitivity.
