Fibrinogen is an inactive zymogen which is activated by thrombin in the coagulation cascade to form fibrin, the most abundant component of blood clots. _x000D__x000D_Fibrinogen activation is also involved in cellular and matrix interactions, the inflammatory response, cardiovascular disease and neoplasia.
