Use of the reagent

Our Total Sialic Acid test kit detects sialic acid in biological samples using the Resorcinol method. Samples and standards are first oxidized using an oxidizing reagent, followed by the addition of a resorcinol reagent. After boiling, a sialic acid chromophore develops. The chromophore is extracted after the addition of isoamyl alcohol and detected colorimetryally at 630nm. The amount of sialic acid in samples is determined based on a provided sialic acid standard curve.
