  This antibody recognizes p38 MAPK, a serine/threonine protein kinase with _x000B_Mw = 38 kDa. p38 MAPK is known alternatively as SAPK2a (Stress Activated Protein Kinase 2a). p38 MAPK is fully activated by dual phosphorylation on threonine 180 and tyrosine 182 within the activation loop. The p38 MAPK pathway, along with the JNK pathway, modulates cell-cycle, apoptotic and transcriptional responses to stress_x000B_
