Use of the reagent
OxiSelect™ Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power (FRAP) Assay test kit is a quantitative assay for measuring the antioxidant potential within various samples. Following the reduction of ferric iron (Fe3+) to ferrous iron (Fe2+) by antioxidants present in the sample, the test kit colorimetry probe develops a blue color that is read colorimetryally at 540-600nm. The antioxidant potential of samples is determined based on an iron standard curve and results are calculated at Fe2+ equivalents (µM) or FRAP value.
-
Cellular use
Measures antioxidant potential in samples through the reduction of ferric iron (Fe3+) to ferrous iron (Fe2+)
-
Protocol information
Quick, 10 minute protocol
-
Reagent properties
Detection sensitivity limit of approximately 2 µM Fe2+ iron equivalents
