Description
Fas ligand (FasL, CD95L) is a type-II transmembrane protein that belongs to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) family. Its binding with its receptor induces apoptosis. The human gene consists of approximately 8 kb and is split into 4 exons. Fas ligand/receptor interactions play an important role in the regulation of the immune system and the progression of cancer. FasL is a homotrimeric type II transmembrane protein. It signals through trimerization of FasR, which spans the membrane of the target cell. This trimerization usually leads to apoptosis, or cell death. Soluble protein is generated by cleaving membrane-bound FasL at a conserved cleavage site by the external matrix metalloproteinase MMP-7.
-
Immunogen
An amino acid sequence from the C-terminus of human Fas Ligand (ELSLVNFEESQTFFGLYKL) was used as the immunogen for this FasL antibody.
-
Storage
After reconstitution, the FasL antibody can be stored for up to one month at 4oC. For long-term, aliquot and store at -20 deg. Celcius or lower. Cycles of freezing and thawing can denaturate the peptide chains of the antibodies and reduce their sensitivity and/or change their affinity. Prepare aliqotes in such a manner so that freeze-thaw cycles are minimized. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
-
Properties
If you buy Antibodies supplied by NJS poly they should be stored frozen at - 24°C for long term storage and for short term at + 5°C.
-
Additional description
FAS ligand and other ligands are binding to the receptor for signaling pathways for example in apoptosis or JNK signaling. Receptor agonists are often tested for drug development.
