Background Information
Cytochrome b5a (CYB5A) is a membrane-bound hemoprotein which functions as an electron carrier for several membrane bound oxygenases like cytochrome P450 enzymes. Defects in the CYB5A gene (METHB-CYB5A) cause methemoglobinemia also known as CYB5A-related methemoglobinemia (a hematologic disease characterized by the presence of excessive amounts of methemoglobin in blood cells, resulting in decreased oxygen carrying capacity of blood, cyanosis and hypoxia). BioVision’s human recombinant CYB5A produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 132 amino acids (1-108 a.a of Uniprot Accession# P00167) and having a molecular mass of 14.9kDa. CYB5A is fused to a 24 amino acid long His-tag at the N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

Properties
Human proteins, cDNA and human recombinants are used in human reactive ELISA kits and to produce anti-human mono and polyclonal antibodies. Modern humans (Homo sapiens, primarily ssp. Homo sapiens sapiens). Depending on the epitopes used human ELISA kits can be cross reactive to many other species. Mainly analyzed are human serum, plasma, urine, saliva, human cell culture supernatants and biological samples.
