  • Description
Canakinumab is a recombinant human IgG1 kappa monoclonal antibody that is produced in murine Sp2/0-Ag14 cell line. This antibody binds to and neutralizes human IL-1β preventing association with its receptor and subsequent inflammatory signaling cascade. The antibody neither has cross-reactivity with IL-1α nor with the Interleukin 1 receptor, type I (IL1R1). Canakinumab was developed by Novartis to treat rheumatoid arthritis. It received FDA approval in 2009 to treat cryopyrin-associated periodic syndromes (CAPS). Additionally, in 2016, Canakinumab received approval for the treatment of Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor-Associated Periodic Syndrome (TRAPS), Hyperimmunoglobulinemia D Syndrome (HIDS)/Mevalonate Kinase Deficiency (MKD) and Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF). This antibody is marketed under the trade name Ilaris®.

  • Properties
If you buy Antibodies supplied by Biovision they should be stored frozen at - 24°C for long term storage and for short term at + 5°C. Human proteins, cDNA and human recombinants are used in human reactive ELISA kits and to produce anti-human mono and polyclonal antibodies. Modern humans (Homo sapiens, primarily ssp. Homo sapiens sapiens). Depending on the epitopes used human ELISA kits can be cross reactive to many other species. Mainly analyzed are human serum, plasma, urine, saliva, human cell culture supernatants and biological samples.
