Background Information
Eotaxin is a recently discovered chemokine characterized by its high chemotactic selectivity for eosinophils. The position of the four cystein residues in Eotaxin places it in the C-C family of chemokines, along with chemokines such as RANTES, MCP-3, and MIP-1 alpha. The human Eotaxin is an 8.3 kDa protein containing 74 amino acid residues. The sequence of the first five N-terminal amino acids is Gly-Pro-Ala-Ser-Val.

Properties
Human proteins, cDNA and human recombinants are used in human reactive ELISA kits and to produce anti-human mono and polyclonal antibodies. Modern humans (Homo sapiens, primarily ssp. Homo sapiens sapiens). Depending on the epitopes used human ELISA kits can be cross reactive to many other species. Mainly analyzed are human serum, plasma, urine, saliva, human cell culture supernatants and biological samples.
