Specificity and cross reactivityCASPASE-3 This item recognises the Caspase-3 cell death protease (also known as CPP32, YAMA and apopain).Caspase-3 is a 32kD protein, activated during apoptosis by cleavage into 17kD and 11kD fragments. This item recognises both intact Caspase-3 and the 17kD fragment, but not the 11kD fragment. In immunohistochemical studies Caspase-3 expression has been shown to be widespread, but not present in all cell types. Differences in the level of Caspase-3 have been reported in cells of short-lived nature (e.g. germinal centre B cells) and those that are long lived (e.g. mantle zone B cells).
