Long description
STATs (signal transducers and activators of transcription) were originally discovered as two proteins (STAT 1 and 2) involved in IFN- and IFN- signal transduction. Since their initial identification, 5 more STAT proteins have been discovered (STAT 3, 4, 5a, 5b and 6). STATs undergo tyrosine phosphorylations in response to growth factor or cytokine signaling (in some cases mediated by JAK kinases [Janus Kinases 1, 2 and 3]), resulting in dimerization and translocation of STAT proteins to the nucleus. Phosphorylation at serine residues in certain STATs (STAT 1 , 3, 4 and 5) has also been reported, and appears to be required for the maximal activation of these proteins. _x000B_STAT 5 / (85/92 kDa) participates in a signaling pathway which is initiated by _x000B_GM-CSF, IL-2, IL-3, IL-5, and IL-7._x000B_

Antibody come from
The antiserum was produced against a chemically synthesized phosphopeptide derived from a region of human c-Abl that contains tyrosine 245. Note: there are two widely expressed forms of c-Abl produced by alternative splicing, known as 1a and 1b (the more commonly used form). The corresponding phosphorylation site from 1a is tyrosine 226.

Western Blot

Antibody s suited for
The antibody has been used for Western blotting applications. For Western blotting, we recommend using the antibody at 0.1-1.0 µg/mL. At 0.50 µg/mL, the dilution provides 100 mL working solution, which at 10 mL/blot allows 10 blots to be performed. The optimal antibody concentration should be determined for each specific application.

Description
This antibody needs to be stored at + 4°C in a fridge short term in a concentrated dilution. Freeze thaw will destroy a percentage in every cycle and should be avoided. STAT proteins are phosphorylated by receptor related kinases and for homo or hetero dimers. JAK-STAT pathways are signaling to the nucleus of the cell.
