  • Gene info
Galectins are a new family of animal lectins which appear to exhibit a variety of biological functions. Lectins, of either plant or animal origin, are carbohydrate binding proteins that interact with glycoprotein and glycolipids on the surface of animal cells.
  • Gene names
    L31, GAL3, MAC2, CBP35, GALBP, GALIG, LGALS2, Galectin-3, 35 kDa lectin, Gal-3
  • Antibodie s label

  • Ab raised in
    Rabbit
  • Type
    Polyclonal
  • Antigen
Produced from sera of rabbits pre-immunized with highly pure (>98%) recombinant Galectin-3. Human Galectin-3 specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography employing immobilized Galectin-3 matrix.
  • Immuno application
    ELISA, Western Blot, immuno-histo-chemistry
  • Antibody advice
Sandwich ELISA:To detect Galectin-3 by sandwich ELISA (using 100 μL/well antibody solution) a concentration of 0.5 - 2.0 ug/mL of this antibody is required. This antigen affinity purified antibody, in conjunction with our biotinylated Anti-Human Galectin-3 as a detection antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2 - 0.4 ng/well of recombinant Galectin-3. Western Blot:To detect Galectin-3 by Western Blot analysis this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1 - 0.2 ug/mL. Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents the detection limit for recombinant Galectin-3 is 1.5 - 3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions. Immunohistochemistry:This antibody stained formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections of human pancreas infiltrating ductal adenocarcinoma tissue. The recommended concentration is 31.25 ng/mL with an overnight incubation at 4 grades C. An HRP-labeled polymer detection system was used with a DAB chromogen. Optimal results for these conditions were achieved with heat induced antigen retrieval with a pH 6.0 sodium citrate buffer. Optimal concentrations and conditions may vary.
  • Keep at
Galectin-3 antibody is stable for at least 2 years from date of receipt at -20 grades C. The reconstituted antibody is stable for at least two weeks at 2-8 grades C. Frozen aliquots are stable for at least 6 months when stored at -20 grades C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
